Overview

Position: Pastoral Caregiver Intern
Location: Joseph House, Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocese
Duration: August 2025 – July 2026
Stipend: Monthly stipend, lodging, and meals included

Joseph House, a mission of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, is seeking a dedicated Catholic male for an immersive, year-long internship as a Pastoral Caregiver. This unique opportunity allows you to live and work within a Catholic community, serving those who are reentering society after incarceration while growing in your own faith.

As a Pastoral Caregiver, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of hospitality, support, and mutual living within the Joseph House community. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, healing environment for our residents, offering care and attention to their spiritual, emotional, and practical needs. You will serve alongside Joseph House’s Founder and Executive Director, Fr. Dustin, as well as our other team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Community Living: Foster a culture of mutual respect and hospitality, helping build a safe and healing environment, maintain awareness of household expectations.
  • Resident Care: Provide direct care and support for Joseph House residents, assisting with their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs during their stay and beyond.
  • Household Management: Be the primary point of contact for crises and day-to-day operations of the household. Ensure safety and the overall well-being of the community.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Fr. Dustin and the Senior Social Worker to address the needs and concerns of the residents, ensuring comprehensive care.

Eligibility & Requirements:
  • A practicing Catholic male with a  strong commitment to faith and service.
  • Ability to live in a shared community setting and work collaboratively with others.
  • Compassionate, responsible, with healthy boundaries and able to manage crises calmly and effectively.
  • Expectation of at least 15 hours a week of specific service hours

This internship is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of social justice and community service, while being part of a supportive Catholic mission. Your time at Joseph House will allow you to grow spiritually, develop leadership skills, and directly impact the lives of those in need. This internship is ideal for students and/or young professionals but not limited to any particular age range.
