This year we celebrated 5 years of our mission here at JH. For our 5th Annual Gala, we commemorated this special year with an extraordinary panel discussing how the mission of JH fits into the larger tradition of human rights. We heard from Terry Coonan, the executive director of Florida State University Center for the Advancement of Human Rights, and Attorney Patricia Okonta from Legal Defense Fund on how human rights are always near to home. In 1958 Eleanor Roosevelt wrote:

"Where do human rights begin? In small places, close to home, so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person -- the neighborhood he lives in, the factory, farm, or office where he works."

Joining our panelists were our own Andre Robinson & Pre Shelton who testified to the importance of Home, I can't think of a better way to celebrate 5 years than our own brothers testifying how critical our mission is to those returning home. Our discussion was moderated by our own co-founder Dr. Sonya Cronin. Perhaps the most important of all was to see old friends and meet new friends. We look forward to the future and more community events.
